Cissy has practiced Iyengar yoga since 1981 and taught since 1986. Her teaching is committed to the systematic approach set out in Geeta Iyengar's texts – all students are encouraged towards daily practice using the Yoga in Action series.
Cissy was first taught by B.K.S.Iyengar in 1984 when he visited Sunderland – here Cissy trained to teach with senior teacher Margaret Austin.

Cissy has spent time in Pune, studying under the guidance of the Iyengar's,
and she continues to study with senior teachers in UK and Europe.
She has taught in Nottingham since 1990, trained ten teachers and is currently a national assessor for Iyengar yoga examinations.

She enjoys teaching General and Intermediate classes; she co-ordinates a
skill-share which is open to all Iyengar yoga teachers with the aim of developing understanding of postures through observation, analysis and creative problem solving.
